Honeybees are essential to the pollination of a majority of food crops. Colony Collapse Disorder is an as-of-yet mysterious phenomenon in which the worker honey bees suddenly disappear, leaving the colony to die.
There are many theories to the cause of this epidemic, ranging from global warming to wireless communications to bee AIDS.

The lack of understanding and seeming hopelessness of the situation reinforced our feelings of resignation to disaster and our escapist tendencies.

With this looming catastrophe in mind, we decided that any attempt to educate the audience would be futile and instead performed a repetitive ritual in which we used an elaborate device to smoke marijuana in the gallery, without ever explicating the subject of the piece.  The event is made spectacular with the use of technological special effects alluding to those which may be the cause of the honeybee population crisis.
